This symposium finds its source in the research conducted by Fabien ANSELMET, Professor at Centrale Marseille, in the field of turbulence and in the many national and international collaborations he has maintained throughout his career. This conference will make a state of the art knowledge on the coupling of turbulence with physical processes such as mixing, whether reactive or not, mono or multiphasic, with density variation and / or viscosity, or as aeroacoustics. It will be an opportunity to encourage meetings and discussions between various scientific communities. The official language of the conference is English.
The Colloquium "Fluid turbulence Applications in Both Industrial and Environmental topics" will be held between 9 and 11 of July 2019, in Marseilles, France. The exact place of the event will be the new amphitheater of the ‘Ecole Centrale de Marseille’, Technopôle Château-Gombert.
The Colloquium "Fluid turbulence Applications in Both Industrial and Environmental topics" will bring together the scientific communities developing studies in which Turbulence and its coupling with environmental issues are the keys to a better phenomenological understanding. The selected themes will be various: flows with variable density/viscosity, two-phase flows, aeroacoustic interactions, reactive or passive mixing, pollutant transport in the natural environment, natural risks and their impact on protective structures. The approaches discussed are theoretical, numerical as well as experimental.
This Colloquium will also be an opportunity to highlight Fabien Anselmet's contribution to research on turbulent flows, in this year of his 60th birthday. The themes of the conference are related to the research he has pursued throughout his career.
International participants. A list of participants is attached, highlighting the international character. We mention particularly: J.C. Vassilicos, W.K. George and A. Burluka (Great Britain); R.A. Antonia and L. Djenidi (Australia), as well as L. Mydlarski and A. Benaissa (Canada).
Industrial participation: DANTEC is represented through J.J. Lasserre. Although not an industrial, but however with multiple practical investigations, IRSTEA is represented by S. Tomas (member of the organizing committee) and S. Bonnelli (member of the Scientific Committee), see below. Phyteas Technology will also be represented by 1 to 4 persons, V. Cocher, R. Pasqual and others.
Some other former students of F. Anselmet, such as J.F. Lucas (Naval Group), are presently employed in industry, that are most likely to attend the meeting.
When programming the presentations, round tables and special spots will be allowed for the specific questions from industry and exchanges with fundamental research people will be made possible.
