The SPHERIC World Conference will be held in collaboration with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and
the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. This partnership promises to enhance the quality and scope of the conference, providing attendees
with access to state-of-the-art facilities and expertise.

Important dates:

  • Call for extended abstracts - September 2024
  • Extended abstract deadline - 10th January 2025
  • Selected extended abstracts announcement - 3rd February 2025
  • Early registration deadline - 31st March 2025
  • Presenter registration deadline - 10th May 2025

Starting from this event we will transition from the SPHERIC workshop series to the SPHERIC World Conference. Following the 18 SPHERIC events in Europe, this first instance will continue the numbered sequence as the 19th SPHERIC World Conference. This new format aims to:

  • Maintain Scientific Soundness: Ensuring rigorous and high-quality contributions.
  • Facilitate Participation: Making it easier for further members of our global community to engage.
  • Increase Impact: Expanding the reach and significance of our collective work.
  • Engage with Diverse Research Communities at a global scale.

In addition to the name change, several key changes will be introduced in the format of the event. These include:

  1. Extended Abstracts: The traditional one-page abstracts will be replaced by extended abstracts of up to three pages. This change aims to provide a more comprehensive overview of the research being presented, while eliminating the need for full paper submissions. This streamlined process will allow participants to share their work more efficiently and thoroughly.
  2. Journal Special Issue: A special issue linked to the conference will be open for submissions 3-6 months post-conference in the Computational Particle Mechanics Journal (for SPHERIC 2025) (https://link.springer.com/journal/40571). This initiative offers a unique opportunity for authors to publish their extended work in a reputable journal, thereby enhancing the visibility and impact of their research.
  3. Special Sessions: We invite experts in the field to propose special sessions that will cover key themes related to both fundamental and applied research in SPH. These sessions will allow for a more focused discussion on specific topics, fostering deeper insights and potential collaborations. To propose a Special Session during the next SPHERIC World Conference in Barcelona, please follow the instructions available here: https://spheric2025.upc.edu/index.php/call-for-special-sessions/
  4. Double-Blind Review: All extended abstracts will undergo a double-blind review process, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. This process is designed to ensure impartiality and uphold the highest standards of academic integrity.
  5. Posters and Oral presentations: Authors are invited to submit their contributions in the form of either oral presentations or posters, according to their preference. This flexibility allows participants to choose the format that best suits their research and presentation style.
