Our last Spring Festival was held as an online event organized and hosted by the UK Pilot Center (PC). I was impressed by the quality and diversity of the fluid mechanics research presented at this event – including the work of last year’s DaVinci finalists but also how this PC had made use of a national initiative, the UK Fluids Network. I recommend you check out their site and see if some ideas could be useful also in your pilot center.
As COVID measures in Europe are scaled down this summer and the EU Digital COVID Certificate is about to go live on July 1st, travelling within Europe is getting easier. While this doesn’t mean that we are back to normal, it nevertheless suggests that more and more face-to-face meetings in our research community are becoming possible. One such event is our flagship conference ETMM13 scheduled to take place in Rhodes, Greece, on 15th to 17th of September 2021. Another opportunity to meet is the Autumn Festival with the 2021 da Vinci final in Rome, Italy, on October 7th and 8th. In the same week and same place, the course on CFD for Dispersed Multi-Phase Flows is scheduled as well.
I strongly believe that exchange of ideas and scientific discussions, in particular face-to-face, are what our research community needs to thrive. Consequently, I plan on participating at ETMM13 and the Autumn Festival in person and hope to see you there!
