Francesca di Mare is Chair of Thermal Turbomachinery and Aero Engines and Managing Director Institute of Energy Technology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Ruhr University Bochum. Previous positions include the Institute of Propulsion Technology at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) in Cologne, where she headed the Combustion Chamber department, and a professorship for Numerical Gas Dynamics for Energy Conversion Systems at the Technical University of Darmstadt, where she was Head of Combustion Research at the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre Combustor/Turbine Interaction. She specializes in numerical simulations of complex flows for propulsion and power, the aero-thermal characterisation of fluid energy machines in all their components, especially considering non-conventional working fluids as a fundamental component of the development of resilient, sustainable propulsion and power technologies.
